Our circulatory system consists of three
types of blood vessels including arteries, veins and capillaries. Oxygenated blood
from the heart to remaining body parts is supplied through arteries and veins carry
deoxygenated blood from remaining body parts to the heart. Sometimes, valves present
inside veins for guiding blood to heart are weakened which results in a
condition called varicose veins. In this condition, veins under the surface of
skin are twisted and enlarged due to the restricted flow of blood to the heart.
Varicose veins are commonly found in the legs and ankles.
Heaviness, pain, and burning in legs, swelling
in feet and ankles, itching are common symptoms of varicose veins. Apart from
this, a patient may also notice change in colour of skin, dry and thinned skin,
inflammation, and scaling.
Currently, following four safe and effective
treatments are available for treating this condition:
·
Endovenous
thermal Ablation: In this treatment laser
is used to close up vessels having varicose veins and blood is redirected into
other veins.
·
Varithena:
This treatment uses foam to deactivate
diseased veins. Doctor inserts a Catheter inside malfunctioning veins for
injecting varithena.
·
Sclerotherapy:
In this minimally invasive procedure,
sclerosing solution is injected for blocking diseased veins.
·
Microphlebectomy:
After local using anethesia, varicose
veins are removed through a tiny incision.
